THE WORST NIGHT WITH THE BIGGEST GAIN

So I get a call from Mike @ work. Actually lets start back a bit. We have a customer that travels accross the country doing railroad repairs. They have a problem with a compressor and they are near Saskatoon. They have a air cooler leak. ( like the rad in your vehicle but with air ) Tech from Saskatoon replaces the cooler and starts the compressor. BOOM!!! The cooler blows again. This compressor is in the open on the top of a train.....probably the worst possible location. ( Sask winters and vibration from train ) The train is moving southeast towards Esterhazy. Now back to the call from Mike. "Trevor, above story explained, the only way we can do this is for me to send you the cooler and you travel to where ever the customer will be, start working @ 10:00 PM to install the new cooler." I call customer. Customer will be in St. Lazare Manitoba. Drive there on very icy roads. Help guy out of ditch. Get to destination @ 10:30 approx and no train in sight. What the hell? Call customer. They are about 2 km east of St. Lazare. K lets go look. Nothing. Call customer. Look some more. Call customer. Note: the guy I call is not at the train and neither of us can contact anyone on the train. Customer I call is in Brandon. By this time it is 12:00 (freakin midnight) Guy from Brandon is now driving to St. Lazare to look as well. He will be about an hour. That would bring us to about 1:00 AM. Meanwhile I have looked again. Finally customer call HE FOUND IT. Finally get to site at about 2:30. Replace cooler and leave site at 6:30 and home at 9:30. So there it is "The Worst Night"...

Oh ya, after all that what could the biggest gain be............how bout 15 hours OT along with the 17 hours OT I already have Plus the two weeks of back pay cause my raise didnt go through = one big fat paycheck........ WOOHOO

Now time to go get some shut eye....Good night @9:50 AM

Choices in Life

Have you ever looked back on your life and thought of all the choices that you have made, big or small, were the right ones? What about the decisions that may have made life better?

I made a decision in high school that I did not want to take French class anymore. After all when the heck am I ever going to go to a place where French is the number one language. So I'm not going to waste my time with a class I don't need. Fast forward to November 16th, 2003. I am on a plane to Laval, Quebec of all places. Why you ask? A sudden change in careers... another one of those choices... takes me to a company that is family owned and operated from the head office in Laval. I am there for two weeks to be trained for my new position - service technician on industrial air compressors and dryers. So there I am training with some of the service techs from Laval. And do you think they speek much english? Needless to say I'm kicking myself in the ass for not sticking with french. Didnt seem like an important decision then....

What about the choices in friends that you had growing up? Do you wish you were friends certain other people... say "the in crowd"? If you had, where would you be now? A better place? Maybe!!! These guys are popular, maybe have good connections. I had my 10 year high school reunion in 2003. The popular people seemed to be doing pretty well. Could I have been doing that well?

I really think that I made all the right decisions... because if I didnt, I may not be friends with the two people I consider to be the best friends a guy could ask for. Joel Sopp and Mike Gregorash.
These two people play an ironic but extremely import role in the biggest decision in my life to date......

Rewind back to the high school days again. I travel to Moosomin to party with Joel. But I am not alone, I have Mike with me. So through Joel I meet a girl and so does Mike. The girl I start dating is Tania and the girl Mike starts dating is Trina. Now I have known Trina for a couple of years. Wrote letters back and forth. Nothing major. After a few months Tania and I break up and Mike and Trina break up. We all go our ways but all the while I still keep in touch with Joel. It is now fall of 2000. I am talking to Joel on the phone one day and he asks me " Do you remember Trina from moosomin?". "Yes I do". Well it turned out that she was moving to Regina and needed a hand. I got her number from Joel and called her to find out the particulars. End of November, the 24th I think, I help her move in. October 12, 2002 I marry her.

If you had changed any decisions in your life would you be as happy as you are now. It is amazing how the smallest decision could make the biggest impact on your life.
